fuel tap

Postby pharrisRB225 » Fri Mar 20, 2015 8:55 pm

Evening all, does a fast flow fuel tap have a reserve setting as my lammy wouldn't start without the lever in the reserve position where as I normally ride with it on the on position all the time,
Thanks in advance
Phil.

Phil , it should have the same settings as a normal tap off/on and reserve ? May be worth checking to see if it's blocked

Hi toddy I checked the flow earlier when I cleaned the carb out and it was fine it's never done it before or maybe I've never let the fuel level get so low,

The fuel ON tube is lot longer on a fast flow tap than a standard fuel tap, consequently it will go onto reserve a lot sooner.I usually remove the filter and cut the tube to the same length as a normal tap.

Phil.

Just fitted a cheap "fast flow" tap to mine and it does the same, think it's just a shite tap so gonna bin it. Went against my own advice " Buy cheap buy twice "

Why not take it apart and have a look inside. It may just be assembled incorrect. I generally drill mine out so it gives a better fuel flow. Measure per minute as it is , then once drilled out measure it's flow again. It could just be the rubber washer fitted incorrectly. They don't take much sussing out !

There is a rubber/plastic washer inside the tap I've seen one or two perish/break up and block the tap. Maybe down to ethanol?
