High revs issue

Postby Revvers » Sat Mar 28, 2015 9:39 am

Hello all. Scoot starts first time, runs lovely poodling along, but give it some well and she starts to falter and revs start to die and feels like it's coming to a stop. Ease up on the throttle and things settle down again. Any pointers? Cheers

More spec' needed. what type of barrel (standard/kitted/125cc/250cc tuned, etc) Type of carb', open mouthed/filtered, jetting, electrics (12v/points/ auto advance/retard), exhaust (expansion/box), fast flow tap or standard, et.

has it always done this or just started ? has anything been done to the engine/scooter lately ?

The more information the better.

Right. Mugello 185 with 28 m Dellorto. Ancillotti exhaust. 12 v electrics. Have been having problems with fuel supply since having scoot resprayed and shot bead was left in the tank! Have stripped carb but have been having issues with petrol caps believe it or not! I've got to drill a tiny hole in the petrol cap today and run it yesterday without the cap. That shouldn't have caused this should it? Anyway, I think I need to take it to a shop for a check out for the summer but just wondered if my symptoms rung any bells

Hi revvers,
Sounds like fuel flow so check easy things first like fuel tap, kinked fuel pipe ,blocked jets collapsing bellows on air inlet hose
Blocked air filter
Grandpa
Just seen your latest post a vacuum in tank will affect fuel flow

Check your fuel flow. Take pipe off at carb' and time how long it takes to fill a litre. Under 60 seconds and that could be your problem. TBH not sure the recommended time

Take it off the stand and sit on it when you check the fuel pipe for kinking

Run it round the block with the fuel cap OFF and see if that makes any difference.

Hello chaps. I'd only done maybe 3 miles with the bead in it and it totally filled the petrol pipe up!! Cleaned it out and stripped carb. Running without fuel cap made no difference. Starts first/ second kick. Bombs along until I give it wellie uphill etc then engine starts to die, like I'm running out of fuel. Looks like I've answered my own question there. Maybe carb needs stripping(??)again. Would the new Ancillotti be causing a problem, in that I should have rejetted for it???

Hi Revvers,
Have you checked flow rate and have you removed and cleaned fuel tap?
