Grey plastic toolbox refurb

I have a grey plastic toolbox that has spent a lot of its life in the Florida sun and needs a lot of TLC to return it to some sort of original finish.
I'm looking for some advice from those who have already attempted this successfully, refinishing the plastic to a good uniform colour and finish.
Anyone?

Don't do this until an adult comes along as I've never tried it but I've read somewhere that a hot air gun can 'restore' the finish on faded plastics.

Did 2 a few years ago with grey plastic bumper paint very happy with the results

I used very fine (1200 I think) emery and plenty of water.

I believe that the toolbox can be made to look like new by polishing. There may be plastic restorers that can do the job for you, or you may consider doing it yourself.

I dismantled a light/horn switch & polished the plastics on a bench grinder polishing mop & was amazed @ the results. However, I wrote off one rocker switch part during the process as it is extremely easy to overheat the plastic & then its game over as it melts & a flat appears incredibly quickly.

Frosts do a specific kit but I used what I had to hand (from eBay) for metal polishing.
