The famous Cambridge St George's Day Dash

Postby Gary Harwood » Wed Dec 24, 2014 12:44 pm

Just a little early warning to put a date in your 2015 diaries. Next year's annual Cambridge Scooter Club's St George's Day "Dash" around our historic city has been scheduled for Sunday April 19th 2015. The event has been steadily growing over the last few years and 2014 saw over 300 scooters amazing the 1000s of foreign students, UK Cambridge undergrads, tourists and locals in our fine city. More details will be announced in the New Year but, in the meantime, please note that, because of it's growing success, a new, larger meeting point has had to be found for 2015. We will assemble in the executive (rear) car park of Cambridge United Football Club from 12.00. The "Dash" will start at 14.30.

For those of you that have joined us in the past please make a special note that it is Cambridge United FC on Newmarket Road - not Cambridge City FC on Milton Road which we previously used as that site has now been vacated by Cambridge City and is in the process of being redeveloped. Nor is it at the Joint Ex Servicemen's Club on Barnwell Road (last year's temporary location).

Bump.........and please note a change of time.

It's the Cambridge Scooter Club's annual St George's Day event this Sunday. The gates will be open from 12.00. The "Dash" will now start at 14.00 and not 14.30 as previously stated.

It's based from a new venue this year - Cambridge United FC. We are assembling in the sponsors and guest car park at the rear of the ground. The FC is on the main Newmarket road in/out of the city centre. Go along Newmarket Road and turn left (going towards the city centre) into Cut Throat Lane just after the pedestrian crossing before you reach the football ground. If you are on Newmarket Road heading away from the city centre go past the football ground and then turn right into Cut Throat Lane just before the pedestrian crossing.

Weather forecast is dry all day so we hope to see loads of old and new friends there.

300+ scooters turned up, 267 were counted on the one hour ride-out around the beautiful city of Cambridge. Thanks to all those that joined us. Here's a good film of us all setting off from The Abbey Stadium.
