Hi All
Can you please help here. I fitted a new junction box, but there is a plate in the junction box connecting all the terminals together except the top two. The one I took off didn't have a plate joining them all together. So can anybody please tell me how to solve this problem on where the wires go. If I use a nylon block connector, what wires would go where. Grandpa kindly sent me a diagram, but the colours are different. Any help would be much appreciated

The junction box is for an electronic kit. If you're still on points, flick the back out of the box and remove the tin plate.

If I mix up the wires can it damage the stator or anything else.

The one with them all connected is usually described as AC type, you can also get a DC type with the sockets matched in pairs but with the pairs not connected to each other.

Do you have a battery?

In general the colours are usually matched stator - loom.

Looking at the pic it looks like the red coated bundle is the stator wires and are coloured as if that's an electronic stator wired for AC

Usually if that is the case then the red and white should go to the CDI (coil). The other wire, usually yellow should go to a regulator, this should have an earth and a wire going back to the junction box which should feed all the other supplies, which is why the connectors are all linked.

The double green in the loom should have one end connected to the CDI and lead to the kill switch or ignition switch and cross connected to the green from the stator. You really should confirm that they are what you expect them to be with a multimeter.

What sort of regulator is fitted? Some Indian ones just have a Zener diode others have various wiring schemes. Stickys book would probably prove invaluable in attempting to identify which setup you have.

Thanks for the information. My bike is a non battery with 12 points, if I join the green wires together she will start and stop, now trying to sus out the rest.

Hi Kenny,
Of the two green wires in harness one goes to Ht coil the other to ign switch.You need to peel back some of the sleeving as the colour of the wires fade .Generally the brown and purple wires are joined in the junction box.Also some machines have a separate coil in stator for rear brake light using a red wire see page 275 Sticky's book.Meter the red wire to see if it goes to back light.If you have a regulator as I have on a MKII first postion with yellow spot is from magneto.Second position Grey spot is regulated output with light brown wire to junction box.,fourth position is earthed third is not used .I do not use regulator as I have wassell but wrote this down in my note book.The metal strips at the back of your old junction box will guide you.The green ign is completely separate
