Wassel conversion

Hi I'm just staring doing the dc conversion I've changed the rectifier and cdi unit plus stator plate to bgm , I'm a bit confused because I don't know where I should connect the brown/white cable

you dont use the regulater cdi wired up ok
two yellows from stator to 2 yellows on wassell red from wassell to the brown from the loom
dont under stand where that brown and white are coming from and the extra green

job done plus battery or resister

Thanks for the reply , the brown and white wire was connected to the old rectifier has shown in the picture.the other green wire was connected to the old cdi unit . So do I join the brown to the red and do away with the White wire ?

from stator you should have 2 yellow to wassel
red to cdi
green to cdi
white to cdi

green from loom to cdi

from wassell 2 yellow to the 2 yellow from stator
red to brown from loom



i think you need to find out where the other end of that stray white wire goes to i assume its in the main loom
also the extra green you seem to have

If you intend to fit a battery, it goes where the capacitor is shown.
Search the forum for WASSELL and a multitude of info will come up.

I'd guess the white wire is for the back brake light (switch).

From the photo there are two leads taped up and two brown wires going into the horn .

one of those wires to the horn will be earthed by the horn switch and the others will be live when the scoot is running
with all those stray wire it may be easier to fit a simple electronic look whilst its all apart

Just had a good look the White wire that was with the brown goes to the back break !! Think it might be easier to change it back to how it was before !!

There's nothing wrong with the loom, just connect that double wire to the battery + so it feeds 12v DC to the circuits.Feed a wire from the Wassel red to the same battery + terminal.Don't forget an inline fuse. Thanks for your help I'll give it a go !! So basically I just connect the brown and White wire to the battery+ and the red from the wassel with a fuse to the battery to

Yes ,that's how I've done it with the fuse on the brown/white so if there is a short in the loom or connectors they are protected.I'd guess the two taped up wires next to the horn are for a front brake switch as the loom looks like the one I used from Scooter Restorations?

Thanks again , yes the other two wires aren't doing anything I'll take me time and give it a try over the weekend . Hopefully I can see the end of the light soon !!

Wassel is up and running thanks everyone for your help , I just want to run 1 spotlight now do I connect up through the blue wire in the headset?

Your best using the blue wire to trigger a relay that feeds the spotlight.
It'll put less current through the handle bar switch and the low amperage wire that it normally uses.
Very easy to do plenty on here to offer good advice.

Hi Patricks,
I used a small maplins solid state relay JM67X 12v 10 amp However it is a surface mount relay so you need to solder some legs on it and use a connector block to wire it in.The blue wire would then go to one side of the coil the other side of coil to ground.12v from the feed (brown)to common and the spotlamp lead goes to normally open Turning main beam then picks the relay

The leds are run off festoon bulb as they use little current
The centre spots off the maplins relay

These are not the multi SMD type that just give pin pricks of light they have several pointing back to make use of the reflector and one very bright condenser type LED showing forward. all for something like 9W

They can be a bit longer than normal lamps so check how deep your lamp is and also what base your lamp uses. Now you are full DC you can use these without any problems.
