front wheel back plate

Postby kennystag » Sat May 23, 2015 1:23 pm

Hi All,
I have lost the plot with this front wheel back plate on my GP. Can anybody give me a diagram how to rebuild the back plate back on to the hub, not the shoes, and where all the washers go, any help will be appreciated.
Cheers

Would the exploded diagram of the front hub on the Scooter Restorations web site be of any help?

Many Thanks Pete,
I had a look at Scooter Restorations web site, but does not show where the washers go on the rebuild.

Hi Kenny,
For safety sake make sure the axle nut washer (item 15 sec 9 of Scooter Restorations sec 9 wheels brakes tyres) fits in the recess on the fork links .See page 44 Sticky's second edition, removing front wheel....Good luck with your MOT

Hi All
In picture 1 do you know if there is a washer goes between the spindle and the forks?
In Picture 2 Is there a washer that goes between the spindle nut (not the dome nut) and the forks?
In picture 6 Again is there a washer between the spindle and back plate?
Your help would be very much appreciated. I want to get it right for safety sakes. My mind was wandering when I stripped it probably too much cappicino lol
Cheers

Paint in the hub groove and on the backplate can cause rubbing. Fitting a shim on top of the internal spacer will move the backplate away from the hub. There is normally a thin washer under the backplate inner nut.

Only a thin one under just to stop the nut biting into the backplate but not that important. If you fitted a thick one it will move the hub over in the forks.
