Front Disc Brake £££

My front brake is not as good as I would like it to be. Can anyone give me a ball park figure for the conversion to disc. My current hub is SIL with LI Shoes. My headset is SX 200 Lince. Any other good braking ideas would be welcome. Thanks.

The most popular after market hydraulic outboard disc kit is probably the scootrs style kit. Around £250 for everything you need to bolt it on or around £280 for one with anti dive. The outboard disc is far better at bringing you to an abrupt halt than any drum or internal disc, so good that it can make the front end dive if you don't feather the brake lever, hence the anti dive version is gaining in popularity. Apart from like for like switching of components the only other thing that you'll need to do is drill a hole in your headset to feed the hydraulic cable through.

Thanks for that, not as bad as I thought. What happens to all the old brake shoes and lever around the front wheel.

I have got the kits corrado mentions on two of my scooters...the difference is amazing...but get the anti-dive...well worth the extra....

Thanks lads. I can only find the American link for Scoot RS can anyone post the Uk link. They state that these are designed for drum links which I have. Other than that will the brake lever on my Lince headset interchange with the hydraulic lever ?

The kit includes a switch housing which incorporates a mounted master cylinder / lever so you will need to replace your existing switch housing / lever, unless you go for a hidden master cylinder underneath your horn casting

With the anti dive version it doesn't matter which links you have as the caliper mounting plate is linked to the forks rather than the links.

I hear so much about the anti dive yet have no idea what it is can someone explain in simple terms

Baroda, I've just fitted an anti dive to my scoot, it has made a massive difference, in a nut shell.... Before the anti dive, when I pulled the front brake a bit sharp, the entire front end dipped dramatically, so much so that I tended to ride a cars length at least from whatever I was behind, now though, when I pull the brake it stops on a sixpence but no dive at all, the front is solid....

I fitted mine as an after thought, my scoot rs brake was just a standard disc brake, the kit I got from eBay for £80,
