My Li 125 is smoking like a chimney (white smoke). Assume the Crank oil seal has blown. Need to know what side is it, behind the mag housing or crank/ chain side and do i need to pull the stator plate out etc...Intend to have a go myself, just need some pointers.....
Just replace all three seals (well, at least two). There is not point pulling it all apart and not replacing these relatively cheap components.
Buy a good set of seals. Don't be frightened to pay good money for good seals. If you are paying two pounds per seal, then you should expect to get a two pound performance from the seal.
Hi mate, all stator plate side removed, then side casing to undo crank so that can be removed. Easy job, just time consuming. Mark position of stator prior to removing, save yourself some time when putting back together.
Thanks knowledge. I know a bit about engines, by no means an expert. If I don't try I won't learn. First time stripping a lambretta. Don't think it's been apart before looking at the carbon around the exhaust ports. Decoke needed as well. Exhaust has had it. Any ideas for a replacement that might give a bit more performance or keep it standard.
If you want advice on exhausts, I suggest you either start a new thread, or use the search function. There have certainly been threads about such exhausts in the past.
Reggie,there really isnt any improvement you can do to a 125,they are slow,I know,I have one too.If you are on L plates,you are stuck,just like me.I am doing my test,and am in the middle of rebuilding my engine with a Muggelo 200 kit.That way I will,or should,be able to go up hills in maybe third,instead of second,then first,then second,etc,etc.
while you have the engine apart, check the end plate for tightness and your rear sprocket for wear in the turrets. both things worth checking whilst your in there that deep.
