Need help with a tuning kit, how do you tune your scooter, which kit should I choose, and all general tuning and modifcations questions are for in here.

Which Bearing?

Postby Lambo » Mon Jul 27, 2015 10:06 am

I'm just starting my first engine rebuild and I'm not sure which bearings to use? Glasgow lambretta seem to do reasonably priced kits but which ones would be the best to go for, Koyo or the SKF/FAG/INA kit? The latter comes with the rear hub bearing where the KOYO kit doesn't. I'm just about to also order a Mec Eur GP crank and MBGM RT 195 kit to upgrade the engine from the original LIS 125.

I'd appreciate peoples opinion, thanks

as long as they're recognised Euro named or Jap bearings you can't go wrong

When I was last up seeing Harry Barlow(Pro-porting), he was using the Koyo(Main) Bearing because they have 13 Balls rather than 12 which helps them to cope better(spread) with load, this was a couple of years ago and other bearings may be higher/similar spec now? Yes Glasgow Lambretta are very good indeed....

6305 KOYO has also one extra ball,
8 instead of 7.
