Indeed you did Donnie, but wouldn't I lose all compression if barrel, piston and rings were knackered?

nope there are varying degrees. I know one lad that didnt clean out his new tank properly and did a 600 mile round trip to kelso that got these symptoms, just gradually got worse :-(

Picked it up tonight, new barrel and piston, seals, gaskets etc, rides like a dream, lesson learnt but onwards and upwards we go, thanks for all the replies and advice but I hope not to be back on here for a while with any problems
