Time has come for a new clutch for the TS1, Choice is down to the cheaper AF or for a little more money the BGM one. Had a look at the Af one and was a little disappointed in the finish. Should i worry?
Not seen a BGM one in the flesh, Anyone running the BGM one and what do they think?

If you can stretch your budget a little the LTH 7 plate is brilliant. Light at the lever and strong enough to hold a decent BHP. Honda plates as well so easy to get hold of and cheap if you do need a replacement set.

I've had the Surflex AF cassette clutch (the more expensive £400 one) in my TS1 for a good few years now and had absolutely no issues, given I've ridden well over 15,000 miles using it. I took it apart last winter, when I had the engine apart to check everything was ok, and replace the plates/steels (which cost about £50 in total), but the ones that I took out were still very useable. (I carry them are spares)

I have known the cheaper version not coming up to the same fault free level as the £400 AF clutch, however with clutches it obviously depends a lot on individual riding style. In the time I've had my AF clutch in, some of my riding companions have had 2 or 3 different clutches/clutch rebuilds in their TS1.

The best advice is always to go for what you can afford.

Im using the cheaper AF cassette clutch (£225 i think it was) in my tuned imola and whilst i agree that the finish isnt up to the same standard it does the job nicely now. I say now as i did have trouble at first with it slipping once warm when hitting the powerband but i believe this was down to it needing bedding in. I know others that have bought this clutch and stripped it and spent 30mins or so tidying the turrets with a needle file to ensure the plates and steels all move freely . The cheaper version is cast were as the dearer is cnc machined i think. A good clutch for the cost imo. I will be soon fitting it into a CS tuned TS1 so will be intresting to see how it holds up .

LTH clutch is excellent, had it in 19 bhp Imola, 23 BHP RB, 29 BHP RB and ss225 26BHP.

No slipping or drag, plates cost £15-£17 on eBay.

i have an lth in my race rapido for a few years and have one in my ss225 , nice to use with no clutch dragor slip..

Have the AF cassette in my TS1 s type and it works like a dream. Also bought one for the GT200 kitted motor I'm building over the winter. The AF Surflex version as said, is cnc machined as opposed to cast, so the finish is far superior. I think at £225 you'd never want to opt for another clutch again design again, just plug and play, very happy with mine,cheers,Speedy.

Bit of an update, went for the LTH as they were a little cheaper than normal for some reason? Halfway between the two AF ones.Any way scoots back on the road and I must say very impressive , a good action ,nice and light.
