I'm using a JMT lithium -ion battery on my DC setup. It's 400g so less than a third of the weight of the acid filled "wet cell" bike battery (1400g) that I replaced because it was "venting " a lot even though it wasn't overfilled. You can mount it any way you like as they are not acid filled. It looks like a motorbike battery rather than an alarm type. I have it mounted in the tool box area of a Diablo tank. No vent required and maintenance free. Been good so far. Doesn't drop power but I do use the scooter a lot. It's got 3 LEDs to show you how much charge is in it. It was about £35 so a bit more than double the price of a normal bike battery but I thought I'd try it out and I'm happy with it.

Although I'm not active in racing currently, I have previously used the 12 volt cells from Toolstation that seem to be reliable & are maintenance free.
I was meaning to mention earlier that I doubt most road riders using batteries these days need a great capacity unless they have HID lighting, perhaps.

Um... I've brought this old nos indian 12v ac points stator (I haven't got a battery tray{cut off} and didn't want the hassle on this scooter because it's not going to get used much- I've got 4 others)
Believing it to be the answer.... However I can't find a wiring diagram for it anywhere!... I'm sure I'll work it out when it's on there but has anyone seen or used this early sil ac system before?!
