Clutch drag

Postby stonerosesmod » Sun Sep 13, 2015 10:41 pm

Started having a bit of trouble with my Li special regarding clutch drag.Normal ridings fine and it will click into 1st gear and operate as it should, but when it's hot and for instance on a stop start ride out,it can be a struggle to take it out of 1st gear back into neutral and with clutch right in it will drag. Its an Li150 engine, standard clutch with a surflex 4 plate clutch and mbd springs.Clutch is adjusted ok and gear oil is right.Only recently started happening too which is strange! Any pointers?

Last winter when I changed exhaust I think and I fitted the mbd springs.Plates and corks were in good condition. Not used it much this year but did notice I had trouble on the Cambridge rideout in April but the ferrule was slipping on the clutch cable making the lever slack so I thought it was that.Clutch adjustment is ok on the lever but still getting trouble when it's warm.

Try a thinner top plate or steels to allow more free play.
