New member with his first Lambretta

Postby Kristof Lammy pie » Wed Oct 07, 2015 7:08 pm

Hi.

My first post on here although I've been a member for a few years watching from the sidelines. I've had a few motorbikes in the past but as the kids arrived they got sold for prams, decorating and other essentials for the family.

On my 40th Birthday day with the help from my dad and various people, I've managed to buy my first Lambretta which is as close to the one my dad owned in the 60's. His was a 62' white and yellow TV175 series 3.

Here is the only pic I've got of it.

Image

I've tried searching for it bit it appears it's gone. So after a short time searching I've managed to buy this. It's a 64' TV175 series 3 it's being delivered in two weeks. I'm well chuffed.

Here it is.

It's got a sx200 motor fitted and apparently really nicely. The plan is to get it to mot standards register it and ride it and enjoy it. :-)

Cheers.

Yeah im looking forward to getting it. I've only got a bit of money aside so hopefully it won't need to much.

Yeah ever the optimist! But I know what you mean.

I know it needs two new tyres, but I've been told that's about it for an mot.

However I will go through the engine and service it and maybe replace the cables.

Can anyone recommend some new white wall tyres? I'm thinking of sticking with white walls but want something that will actually grip the road a little bit all year round.?

Nice scoot, I have Sava or now Mitas MC20 whitewalls on one of mine and they're very good in my opinion.

Cheers I will.

As soon as I get it I will have a look and see what state the tyres are in and contact you. It looks like it has contis on it already but I think they are about 10 years old.

I will see how bad the ones on it are first and see how I get on.

So on the subject of registering the scoot. I've read about the Nova forms and dating letter etc.

I'm just wondering about this scoot. It was registered new in Belgium and I've got a Vat receipt dating it 15/09/64 would I need a dating letter also from lcgb?

Cheers

The scoot needs NOVA registering and a dating certificate. You need to get DVLA to send you a form(you can order this on-line)for registering the scoot,on this form it tells you all you need to send.Fill the form in and send it with the required documents to the DVLA,Swansea and keep your fingers crossed.

Kris, Im just about to do the exact same document chase as Paul says for my Italian TV3, our papers will meet at the DVLA!

Try to resist full on restoration Kris, the cost and time is awesome. I hoped to do it all for 2500, now at close to 3500+ and not finished getting it there yet! but very close.

Probably about to sell at a total loss, parts + scoot in the first place..

Hi.

I read your thread from start to finish I was gutted at the end when you decided to sell.

Yes I'm avoiding the restoration process. I'm intent on trying to do it on a shoestring. In the past I've ploughed so much money into mini projects, classic bike projects etc and I've always taken a hit on them whenever I've sold.

I've just ordered my v55/5 just waiting for the scooter to be delivered then I can apply on line for the Nova.

The TV arrived today, well chuffed with it. It needs a few bits sorting out.

New cables
Brakes seem pretty bad, so not sure what state the front disc and pads are.
Exhaust is very rusty
Engine starts on the first kick. So hopefully just a service for that.

I've just pressure washed it and started oiling it up.

Pics later :-D
