Mugello 198 or RB20

Postby mickmorris » Wed Nov 04, 2015 11:33 am

Hi, I've been searching the internet trying to weigh up the pros and cons of which kit to upgrade my Servetta Li150 (small block).
My idea is to tour more next year and plan to travel into Europe, so an engine rebuild is on the cards for the winter.
I'm looking for any advice that could steer me on which way to go. Cast or aluminium ?

All depends what you want out of the scooter the RB is a racy little motor which will cost more in Upgraded parts or maybe high maintenance to build whereas the Muggello is more of a Torquey motor but not as fast on top end , both can be toured depending on your riding style

I'd agree with Toddy, I run a 186 Muggy and an RB20 and to be honest prefer the Muggy in terms of easier touring riding rather than really having to work through the revs on the RB. Saying that I only pootle everywhere at 55/60mph, 65 tops so if you after more than that and happy to work for it the RB might be the better option.

For a reliable touring set up, especially as you're srtipping down the whole engine why not have the crankcase converted to take an Indian stage 4 200cc barrel? Fit a Scootopia 22mm carb and a decent clubman exhaust and it'll be reliable and not too thirsty.

The "you can lead a horse to water" .... I can be quite facetious when the mood takes me. Mainly when I've wasted my hard earned spare time.
