that's what I'm trying next after doing a tyre and a half on my 2,000 mile euro trip.

What tyres were they ,Derek ?

Schwalbe Sportsman.
Probably the best tyres I've ever used but I wouldn't risk using Schwalbe again.

at the risk of this going off thread, was it ever established that it was the country of origin rather than schawble in general

They never accepted any fault apart from rider error. Was never down to one particular tyre, size or batch right across the board.

I've had dual compound sportsmans on for a couple of years , the centre section appears hardly worn but the out sections have worn so much in comparison the there's a definite step when you run your hand over the tyre, you can also feel it when riding slowly, cornering is noticeably twitchy as well.

Based on this I won't be refitting the same tyre ready for next year, id rather have even wear , even if it wears faster

Hi Dazza,
How many miles before you noticed a step forming.
What percentage of yourvmiles are motorway.
Cheers.

I'd say probably a couple of thousand miles , I try not to go on motorways hard to say but I'd say it must be a 50/50 mix of straight roads and bends .
I did feel confident about them and never felt like they were going to let me down, it was only when I noticed the step that I lost confidence - purely psychological I'm sure :)

Thanks for the reply.

They sound like a good option for a Euro run.
Last couple I've only made it one way on a new tyre.
Will check for the step.
