GT kit?

Postby Wack » Sun Dec 06, 2015 9:16 pm

I'm hoping, fingers crossed, to maybe do the 2017 Euro to Italy and would like to use my original condition 150 Special, but as standard it does 55ish tops so was considering an upgrade to maybe the GT 186 kit purely for the reason that if it siezed I may be able to do a roadside repair compared to nicasil and hopefully be able to cruise at 60+mph. I have an original TV 175 cylinder I could use with an TS 185 piston but like the reed valve for fuel efficiency and torque although I have an LTH reedblock spare. The idea was to use a 42mm Clubman exhaust and a 25mm Dellorto running thru the airbox so if anyone runs a similar spec GT kit or has done a TV conversion your comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Wack

You suggestion is exactly what I did . I'm really impressed with the kit - I've really enjoyed riding it this year with the GT186 kit - all straight form the box, no problems

I'm gonna buy another + the gt crank for my series 2

Yes 4.6. I'm running the same gearing on both my 186 and 200 Colin. Only thing I will say with the 186 and Franspeed Race is that I find I have to change down to 3rd more often to keep it in the power band, whilst I don't have that with the 200 and BGM clubman. But as long as I don't let it drop below 60 it's not an issue :D

That's impressive, my Mk1 Muggy 186 couldn't cope with the same gearing and I had to drop to 15 on the front sprocket :(

I use strava for walking and cycling and one night I used it to check my Vespa speedo, max speed 77mph 8-)
The next morning I had PM's and emails from irate cyclists !!!! Strava had downloaded my results and I had smashed local PB's on a 10k route
All these quick boys wanted me off so they could have their table positions back.

^... that is *'ing great (lol)! Again, people more worried about what their PC is broadcasting to the world (same as idiots that care only about dyno results), rather than 'real world' results.
