DL125 TURQUOISE

Postby Covboy » Tue Feb 02, 2016 5:43 pm

Hi
Here are some pics of a 1971 dl 125 I collected at the weekend.
Already blasted and painted to a good standard.
I've ordered all the bits I need to finish it off so it should be a nice straight forward assembly job ( those words will come back to haunt me I'm sure!)
Forks hub and stand etc powder coated silver.
New zinc plated tank ordered - the one it came with looks nice on the outside but very rusty inside.

Very nice Steve. Paintwork looks good.

What's the plan for the motor?

It's an Italian import. Already registered with the dvla -J reg

Re the engine... Not sure yet! It came with a 125 unit , 12 electronic ignition but no top end. I've got a 150 barrel and piston from my li that I was thinking about putting on just to see what the motor is like.

This is the engine that came with the scoot. I've cleaned it up and put a standard 150 top end on it that I had lying around. Fingers crossed I'm hoping that it will all run ok. If it does I'll treat it to a kit!

Nice!!

Mine isn't as clean as I hoped so it's a bit more of a rusteration project than I thought.

Coming together nicely now . Plan to start it up this weekend. The condition of the engine is an unknown to me. I put the top end on but decided to try it first rather than strip it down and ending up replacing everything! Got s nice seat on order from RLC, should arrive any day now.

Good Luck with starting up!

Don't forget that your tank is full of crap. It may be worth removing the tank filter & using just an inline filter initially.......Having said that, I run my SX like that all the time! Easier to dump any sh1te!

Update : good compression but no spark. New regulator and CDI.

Run out of time for faulting this weekend.

And yes the ignition was on ... I've made that mistake several times !

Update#2

Tested the wires from the stator - short circuit between the white and brown (red) wire.

Lesson learned - I should have tested it when it was on the bench rather than in the scoot.

Look like SIP rims to me.

Nice scooter. I'm intrigued by this seat you're getting from RLC. Be interesting to see.
