Lambretta rear hubs

I've been having rear brake problems on my Indian casing TS1 motor. Basically, the rear brake doesn't work. I suspected it might have been the rear hub which was an F.A. Italia one which I thought was crap when I bought it.
I went up to a well known scooter shop in Nottingham and bought a SIL one. I've fitted it today and when I turned the hub it was binding really badly in one place so I took it back off and put it on reversed. Again I turned the hub slowly and sure enough, the brake lining was egg shaped. They've told me they'll refund me no problem

I've just ordered a Scootopia one direct from them as they are supposed to be better quality, what I'd like to know is are these good quality hubs that are guaranteed to be round or am I going to end up with the same problem again.

Similar problem, essentially down to SIL casing pivots misaligned. This was the main contributing issue and Mickyork hit the nail on the head. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4500

Rear brake cable routed incorrectly (over carb manifold, outer not fitting properly )

Thanks for the reply. How can you tell if they are out of alignment? I've looked at the threaded holes for the brake posts and they seem to be bang on in the centre of the casting lugs.

Unfortunately, this is typical of SIL 200 casings and was almost certainly why the Jockey Boxenstop rear brake upgrade was developed...

A decent hub might improve the situation somewhat but the problem stems from the casing, rather than the hub.

I think they used a hub with a window cut into it so the can see how the shoes pivot and where they make contact ( or not) with the hub brake lining itself
