It,s been a while since posting any photos here of my latest creation.
Rather than bombard you all with the build up from start to finish in one go I shall drip feed sets of photos in batches.
What I have here is a Spanish Li 150 series 3 which had been cut down by a previous owner.
I bought the results of that attempt in the January of 2014,carried out most of the work during the latter part of that year.
My brief was to build a budget cut down.

I had to dismantle the engine and forks from the frame to get it into my friends estate car.

Marked up the leg shields ready for trimming.

The rear floorboard legs were trimmed also,I intend to stitch back on the side part of the leg shields to the floor part.

Floor board extended into combined bridge piece you can also see the side pieces glued back on after trimming up.

The rear part of the frame got a piece glued on to make up a light houseing and to tidy up the rear end.


Off the work bench for a quick mock up to check out the side stand height and general look of things so far.

I might have to change the bars for something more useful on the road...



Painstakingly bent a return onto the extended floorboard bridge piece.

Front horn casting gets the Spanish Series two look by extending with fibreglass filler,front mudguard off an unknown auto scooter.

Rear mudguard trimmed and returned where cut. rear part of frame requires more trimming.
Will post some more photos and words in a few days.

Going to subject you all to the next batch of photos and write up of my cut down project,enjoy.

Needed a rear light lens,so from the rubbish bin at the bodyshop where I was working came this rear light (or whats left of it)
Used the part with the numbers on,now to trim to shape.

Scrap of galvanized metal for the LED base.

Three sets of three,top one side light,bottom two brake with a gap left so enough white light shows out to light up the number plate.

Satin white for the main panelwork all done with cans.

Tank etc satin black.

An innocent looking bumper bracket off some car or another main thing is it,s alloy and I need to make a gear change wheel.


Basic shape cut out ,now I need to tidy it up but I don,t have a lathe .

But I do have a drill..




Seems to work.Plenty of bolts to hold it together.
More fabrication coming soon.

Just like to say I'm with you I've made lots of stuff mainly tools to work on my s3 and I think cutdowns look cool .

Continuing saga of my building of my budget cut down .

I had left over from my Puta Azul cut down the right side only rear brake pedal mounting plate made from alli,what I need is one for my left foot.

Recall the bumper mounting bracket which I used to make my gear change wheel ? Well as luck would have it I had kept the thicker part in my box of scraps ...

Cardboard was used to make template ,the holes were already there along with the return . A small tab was welded to the fan cowling. The foot pegs again from my trip to the Philippines , you would be surprised with what I brought home from there,and no it,s not contagious anyways I diverge.
The wiring is going to be wrapped up in insulting tape at a later stage. Jetex 22mm carb from flea bay.
The foot pegs were a bit short 9 not wide enough for my plates of meat so a piece of tube cut to extend them further out.

Masked up ready for some satin black.

Wiring along with cables run through the frame.

I found the rear brake cable was resting on the gear change swivel so a rummage around found me a piece of stainless cut off from my front brake hose retaining bracket of the Puta Azul project which just happened to fit the purpose of keep rear cable off the swivel.

The head lamp is I think what is de rigur ( however it,s spelled ) the thing to use for a head lamp is a spot light ,used to be called a Lucas square eight if memory serves. Any ways I messed about and got an H4 bulb to fit which gave me more problems than was probably worth while. I had to heat up the housing to reform the back of it to get clearance for said bulb as I also wanted the on off switch for the light contained within. I also had to extend the housing using special filler for plastic parts on cars.

The blue one in the back ground is the Puta Azul cut down that I built a few years ago ,I had to put the pair of them into my house as I was going away for a few months.


How efficient this air filter will be remains to be tested.It has a funky look about it and was only a few hundred pesos in the Philippines.

Work pretty much ground to a halt after this last photo my few months away turned into almost a year ( I was not away /inside as some might confuse going away for a while as a spell at the Queens pleasure ) far from inside I have been outside very much so . I have however been collection more bits and bobs for this project and some of my others . Namely an old Fresco pipe for this project.
Hopefully I can crack on and get it finished now that I am back in my house after my travels and the scooters have been returned to the garage.
Here is to a dry year and long hot summer ahead .
