The three pins that hold the disc, allow it down about half way and then it just jams. When taking it apart again to retry I have to knock the disc off with some force!
After reading this thread, I'm guessing this is not a new issue and it sounds like I just need to rub down the pins slightly, enough for the disc to drop freely to the bottom of the pins.....is that right?

Ben

Try removing the anti-rattle clip in the disc and see if this allows it move more freely on the pins

Does the ScootRS version have an anti rattle clip?

In which case, I wholeheartedly agree :)

Also, put a smear of copper grease on the pins (not too much). Hopefully, ScootRS' manufacturing tolerances have left a reasonable gap for the disc to move freely. Don't worry unduly if you can hear it rattle a bit when walking the scooter, this disappears when your moving.

Item 49, sits in a recess and presses against the pins. This is in a Campagnolo disc set up but not all the replacemet discs available actually have a recess, which is why I posed the original question.

I have converted my in board disc to a circlip retained cylinder type semi-hydraulic and after replacing the original pads with some newfren one and polishing the pins I am finding the moving pad is randomly sticking on....it's already burnt the paint on the wheel, anyone got any ideas or had this before?

Is there a thread or link with a step by step guide on setting up this type of brake?

As this is a safety issue, I will try to help, but others might know better than me.

If the new pads are too big, not circular or even too small, then there may be jamming of the moving pad.

It needs to slide in & out with the merest touch of high temperature lube.

If it isn’t that, then it sounds as though the special seal fitted to the bore (usually) has been fitted back to front. By its special shape, it should deform under pressure when the brake is applied, but then when the brake is released, the seal goes back to its proper shape & pulls the piston back with it to prevent the pad dragging.

I hope you can understand what I’ve said here, but if you don’t, I strongly suggest you enrol the help of a professional unless better advice comes about due to your question.

Hopefully, somebody on here will know the precise cure.
