mystery shim

Postby johnnyXS » Thu Mar 17, 2016 6:11 pm

you heard the one about the mystery part left over after an engine rebuild ?

A scooterist was rebuilding his engine and being a meticulous fellow he labeled and bagged everything carefully on strip down so that it would be easy to find everything come rebuilding :D Everything was put in order of disassembly
, he even went so far as taking pictures as he stripped the engine so there should be no problems .

Imagine the chaps dilemma when rebuilding the engine to find an unaccounted for shim washer that doesn't show up in any of the pictures or in Stickys manual or even the Official Lambretta workshop manual.

I've only got as far as puting in the layshaft and this mystery washer doesn't seem to have a home. ! is it a washer thats got misplaced from my motorbike bits box ? or should it fit onto the layshaft before placing it into the hub bearing ?
It looks like a typical shim washer to take up some lash and measures OD 36mm ID 26.5 The layshaft measures 26mm OD so it does fit nicely on the layshaft .
