Gets rid of the crappy points system and are brilliant addition to the shaft drives. Done it on my c model. Best thing I done to it :D

The Varitronic is indeed fantastic, she runs like a young girl, seriously she hits her top speed and is like a new scooter,
I am fitting one to my 57 french ld restoration straight away :)

Very nice LD and one of my favourite models..wasnt it Howard Chambers that pioneered the electronic conversion for this engine?

Hi, I know this is a fairly old post but I have just bought a 1957 LD 150 which has been very nicely restored and is still running 6v electrics. Can you please explain a bit more about the variotronic conversion you have fitted, is it a difficult job and where you got it from.
Many thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy sorry for Delay ,
To be very Honest My Ld Runs like a dream on the varitronic, pulls better and goes faster, It really does, keeps the power going through the gear range
I am Building a 57 Ld and are putting the varitronic straight in ,
I got mine from http://www.scooter-center.com/en/classic but the price has dropped in the uk so now are about the same , check out the E bay they have them,
or any of the Lambretta centres , cambridge etc,
Basically it is a very easy conversion all details are included in the kit, You will need a new woodruff key as they always recommend to change,
You Find TDC bolt on the new bits attach wires , the timing is done by turning the stator plate , mine is fully to the right and she Kicks over by 3rd kick and storms along
Hope that helps , some photos are on my FB page David j frost , ? monkies wedding,
All the very best,
D :D
