Waiting for a new crank to arrive for my gp200.ive removed the old crank which has the inner race of the flywheel bearing still on it.I notice when ordering new bearings that there is a complet 1 piece bearing for flywheel or a bearing with separate inner race.the crank comes without the inner race fitted.I figure that you have 2 choices here. Either fit the complete bearing and then the crank or fit the separate inner race to the crank and then fit the crank.which is best and which is easier.CAn anyone shed some light
Cheers

I would go for the two piece bearing because pulling and re-fitting the mag housing will be easier. I can imagine if you are pulling the bearing off the crank removal of the housing will be harder also re-fitting is not so easy, IMO of course..

I've tried to remove the inner race from th old crank without success.I don't think you can buy the inner race in its own as I suppose they are specific to each bearing but that's all I need as the existing bearing in the casing is good. The old crank with inner race fitted slots easily into the existing bearing. I figured that if you use the one piece bearing it would be difficult to slot the the crank in.surely much easier to fit an inner race to the crank first.hope this is clear

You can grind through the old bearing collar on the crank, just be careful and tape up the big end to prevent the filings getting in there.
I wouldn't mix races from different batches of bearings, you might get away with it but I wouldn't bet on it.

I agree it does seem unlikely especially since the oilseal is inboard of the bearing.

There are different grades of bearing and any inner race will go into any bearing but the clearance between bearings and raced may be wrong.
There's no way I'd gamble on it being correct.

There are 1 piece flywheel bearings on Beedspeed website. I'll order the 2piece and replace bearing and inner race complete.no pint grinding race off crank cos crank is knackered
Cheers fellas

Are you mistaking the flywheel bearing (2 piece)for the main drive bearing (1 piece)Both of these bearings go on the crank, one goes on one end and the other goes on the opposite end.

I think the confusion arises because the picture of the cheap flywheel bearing on the Beedspeed website shows the bearing with the centre race removed, but the picture of the more expensive Fag flywheel bearing shows it complete. They are both exactly the same, apart from the price and quality.
