Am I better using 8mm Internal diameter pipe and pulling it up with a clip or 6mm tight fit and a clip. Still looking for the holy grail of pipe that doesn't go hard or is not so soft it splits at either end or rubs through against the flywheel cover. Im using nylon braided rubber at the moment and its dripping like a tap. Was looking at stainless braided they also do a teflon lined one. recommendations?

Used the MB reinforced one and it leaked round the spiral stainless wire. It didn't kink but went rock hard.
I bought black nylon wrapped it rubbed and split half way down
The soft nitrile ones split at the pipe clip and dropped half a tank onto a hot pipe. Was pulled over by a mate just as it went onto reserve. Used the normal scooter shop green or clear plastic ones all ok for a while but go rock hard.
My thinking was that the internal bore is irelavent as the bore of the tap or carb will be nearer 4mm but will the 8mm give more of a reserve to the flow. Not sure why you dread braided stainless

Whatever you go for make sure it's ethanol proof. I bought some ethanol proof pipe. It hasn't disintegrated but it still went hard. My choice is to go to 8mm and use micro jubilee clips to cinch down rather than 6mm and stretch.

Eventually it frays and sticks in your fingers. Best bit of pipe I ever bought was some thick black rubber stuff from a motorbike shop. I think rubber may be the key here.

Fuel line incl clips from Halford in a bubble pack if I remember. Couple of quid at the most. Never had a problem.

Some of Halfords sets used to be a brand called CODAN, black rubber, not sure of the bore size but they remained flexible

I got some opaque purple stuff from a motor cross shop, guaranteed to stay flexi and has done so.
I got some from Halfords but the O.D was a bit large and personally I prefer to see if theres any debris collecting in the pipe.

Well I went for the bigger size fitted and was happy to see no leak, went out and I thought I was going onto reserve, still spluttering stop and look down at the pool of petrol on the road that kept coming with the tap off. Panel off to find the petrol tap had dropped off the bottom of the tank.. On its side and managed to get the nut that had stripped threads on a bit further then after pulling the tank out screw the tap in enough to get home. You have to love riding 55 year old shopping trolleys. Do rear exit fast flows clear the silent block?

I get mine sometimes from a boat shop that has reels of pipe for outboard motors and they sell it by the metre

Never a dull moment! I've rear-exit taps on a pair of series 2s, one with extended blocks and one with the normal and neither has a clearance issue

The fatter pipe made it tight against the silent block and I think it knocked the tap back. Looks like it was that that had been leaking all along. You only have to get petrol 4 inches from the tank to the carb FFS. The thread on the tank is good so I will try a rear exit tap.

I think the Scootopia petrol taps give you a little bit more clearance. They have a nice positive feel to them as well.

^ Just fitted a Scootopia tap (not rear exit though) and a lovely click when it goes to on and another positive click when it goes around to reserve. And much improved flow.

I agree with Nigel. Fitted a Scootopia standard tap and noticed the positive feel in each position.Also noticed that the air gap in the fuel pipe some people mention on the forum has gone.
