Fitting a top end kit on standard gp150 gearing

Need help with a tuning kit, how do you tune your scooter, which kit should I choose, and all general tuning and modifcations questions are for in here.

Fitting a top end kit on standard gp150 gearing

Postby Kristof Lammy pie » Thu Apr 14, 2016 10:20 am

As above really, I'm just weighing up what to do with my 69' dl150 motor whether to keep it standard ish or go for a top end kit (gt186 or a Gori 200) retaining the original gearing.

Has anyone run a kit on the gp150 gearing? After reading a few bits I'm guessing it will over rev and the top end will be low.

But just wondered how useable it would be for short blasts around my country lanes.

Any info would be great.

I ran a Harrow Barlow Suzuki 190 kit on a GP 150 gearbox.

It topped out at about 60 on a GPS but it got there very quickly, very quickly indeed.

For short blasts around country lanes it would have been ideal.

I've since sold it on but I've often regretted it.

keep the 150 gearbox and put a bigger front sprocket on.

I ran a gp150 box with a Mugello 186 kit and 16 X 46 gearing, it pulled it with no problem.

I run a Casa 185 with a GP 150 Vijai Super gearbox and 18x47 sprockets. Its the same ratio as the late Indian GP 200 except for 4th gear which is higher,it pulls these sprockets with ease and gives a slightly faster top end in 4th gear. The standard GP 150/SX 150 gearbox has the same ratio as the vijai Super except 3rd gear is higher.
