Does anyone know if an Li Points stator will work on a GP crank?

Good question, I was going to ask similar one myself regards running a Ducati 6 volt points stator from a SX on a engine with a GP crank and flywheel. I'm guessing you're referring to a electronic stator plate? Paul

No I was talking about a points ignition and flywheel set up
But it's probably doesn't matter as I think the flywheel taper is different?

The central hole on early LI stators is smaller than on later spec stators as the centre boss on the early flywheels (brass 6 pole) was smaller, however, later Ducati centre bosses where bigger. If you try to use the later flywheels (including GP Ducati flywheels) on early stators then they normally rub and burn out within minutes of starting them :(

This modification is talked about in greater detail in the Official Home Workshop Manual (a must for all SIII/GP owners).

Adams right they rub diecast flywheels can have a larger boss, but I open the stator hole up with a dremel till it has good clearance or get a friend with access to lathe to bore it out, its only the mild steel of the laminations so soft

If the GP flywheel is designed for electronic ignition, it won't have an eccentric boss on the inside to open the points as it rotates --- will it ??

no but there are loads of indian gp150 points stators and flywheels about very cheap so fit one of them, change the lighting coils to 12v and use a vespa regulator, I have done a couple of points bikes recently and have far less hassle than electronic kits can have
the cam on the electronic is mounted on a different position relative to the woodruff slot, you have to redrill the cam to the flywheel removing the rivets to get the correct position and weld on fingers to operate the pick up so not worth it for all the hassle for a £35 electronic flywheel
