Wiring problem update.

Postby St George » Sun Apr 24, 2016 2:48 pm

So far so good.
I have the engine running fine in position one on the ignition key, it also turns the engine off as it should. In position one the hooter works and the brake light works. I have 12 volts on the brown and purple.
In position 2, the brake light no longer works and I have no lights but the engine runs. Position 3 the same.
I have Sticky's diagrams, but I need a more detailed breakdown of the ignition switch, light horn switch.
My ignition switch has the following wires, Yellow, Green, pink, blue, brown, orange and black.
Light switch has white, brown, red and blue and black to earth. My light switch is made by Leonelli in Spain. Two wires on the switch have been cut and sealed and every thing used to work fine.
Thanks to all the guys that have PM'd me help so far.
Has anyone got a diagram that is more comprehensive than Sticky's.

Jet 200 with SIL 200 motor CDI no battery.

Thank you in anticipation. Colin

Hi Paul. That bit is isolated. What I think I need is an exploded diagram of the ignition switch and light switch. Thanks for reply. If any of our Southend members want to pop over I will gladly get them lots of beer.

Mine was actually in the speedo, the part were you push the bulb into, were the connection is made was touching the side of the bulb holder and shorting out.

Are you sure the switch black should go to earth?

Hi Wack. It has been running for three years like it, but thanks for the answer. Would like to find better diagrams of switches and looms. I am sure it could be a crossed wire.

It sounds to me that when you click over to lights the power is shorting to earth. I'm not familiar with your light switch, presumably it's the square Jet one with the orange rocker? But I would imagine the black is actually the feed out to the rear light but may be to earth the horn out. I haven't worked on a Jet since I wrote mine off in the '80's . None of the diagrams in Stickys book show black to earth

Hi Wack. Mine is the one with the orange rocker. To make things worse my electrical tester vibrated off the seat whilst the engine was running, smashed to pieces. I was issued that in 1971 by British Gas ( gutted ) Can you still buy the old fashioned meter with a needle not a screen. :?
