Clutch spider play

Postby Nbowe » Mon May 09, 2016 10:49 pm

There seems to be a lot of play in the clutch spider on the splines so when I fit sprocket and torque it up there is quite a bit of rock in the sprocket. The engine is a standard sil gp200 and the spider is from a gp150.Ive put 2shims behind the sprocket but this doesn't stop the spider rockin.do I need a different spider or is this movement correct?
Anybody help me with this.cheers. nick

The spider won't rock when the nut is tightened, your problem is either a worn bush, off centre crownwheel or the spider is sitting too far through the crownwheel.

Hi Nbowe,
I tried different bushes (item 22 bush and item 28 shim scoot restorations section 3 clutch) from different sources and never fully eliminated clutch sprocket slop
on an Indian gp150
Have a look at this:

You can get shims that go behind the clutch spider to stop the sprocket rocking , AF sell them , give them a call
