Small block upgrade advice please..

Postby genolambo » Wed Jun 22, 2016 11:11 am

Hi all,

I'm currently building up the engine for my Li150 s3 resto.

I've acquired a GP150 case with GP200 gearbox and will be at 47/18 to keep the ratio similar.

What I would like is a little bit more power, just around town and the back lanes, so would appreciate your advice/recommendations for a cylinder kit and carb.

I would like to keep the setup as original as I can with regards to the carb through the airbox as it did originally.

So, a reliable cylinder kit and carb set up that uses the airbox is what I'm after. Just wanting a bit more power, just to keep up with traffic a little easier.

Budget wise, I believe you get what you pay for, within reason.

I realise there are similar questions posts with regards to this but I just wanted to make sure that anything recommended is suited to my set up. Apologies for that!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

That sounds like my sort of riding. I have an engine with that exact same set up and it's fitted with a Casa 185 kit, which I can't praise enough. It sounds as if it might suit you, Sir.

There is some good advice from Corrado about kits and state of tune.

My advice
If you have a tuner/dealer you trust, get their advice on what will fit your requirements.
No point in having a mismatched kit/pipe/gearbox

Yes it does Geno. I run it with a 22mm carb and a pretty ordinary clubman exhaust. Not the most exciting of set ups, but that suits me fine. It's smooth and nippy and pulls well. Really nice to ride.
