Pricing for Italian gp200

Postby bricky36 » Wed Jul 27, 2016 1:46 pm

With great regret,I have to sell my pride and joy.It is a 1970 gp200.
I have never driven it,as don't have licence.
Does anyone know what kind of prices this are going for.
Thanks
Alex

All depends on condition, ranging from £50 for a rotten basket case to as much as you can get. It's no different to asking how much a car might be worth... next to nothing for a crashed example or a small fortune for a delivery mileage dry stored NOS example.

You'll need to give more detail or post photos if you want any sort of informed response.

It is dry stored, in a good condition. It no longer has fly guard.

Is it British registered from new and do you have the original green log book? will add a few hundred to the final price in my opinion.

Italian GP 200 in average condition bodily and mechanically sound would make at least £3.5k. Theres a lot of variables though (non original paint scheme/ m.o.t ect), pictures need to be more detailed for a better assessment. Does it have a 2/22 frame no.?

^... got to confirm the 22/2 25**** frame number before you can appraise the value as the same bike built on a 125/150 frame will be worth £2K less than the equivalent GP200 frame machine. The fact that it says GP200 on the log book means very little as I myself have had GP200s that were simply GPs with a 200 engine put in it.

If it is a 22/2 25**** frame the I'd value it at about £5K with a higher insurance value. Note that the value may or may not reflect what someone is actually prepared to buy it for. A great example of this was a mate trying to sell an immaculately restored genuine SX200, which he started at something like £8K, then dropped it to £6K and then took about £3.5-4K for as people were not actually prepared to put their money where their mouths were.

Sadly, it is very difficult to give an accurate idea of what this may be worth but confirming whether the frame is genuine 200 or not is the starting place that will inform any value.

For it to worth £5000 it would not only have to have the correct frame, but also the original engine, inboard disc brake etc.It doesn't have the GP seat, but an aftermarket one,so how many other things are not original.
