Punctureseal in AF Rim

Postby Rich Oswald » Sun Aug 07, 2016 10:21 pm

Just got a new tyre, Sava MC20, put on an AF rim after the Euro and cannot for the life of me get any slime in it. Have done loads before on Tubeless and tubes in split rims and never had a problem, especially in warm weather. Removed the valve core as always but no way would it go in. The air goes in and out fine and holds pressure and the tyre seats properly when inflated. Any idea what could be happening?

I had exactly the same with a performer on SIP rims. Sticky advised compressing the tire a bit before attaching the bottle so the vacuum would suck it in as you decompress it.

The problem is that the drilling into the rim is tiny, about 2mm. I did think about running a larger drill through mine for that very reason but didn't in the end. Taking the valve core doesn't help much due to the restriction in the rim.

Well I tried it off the scooter, no luck, then tried it on the scooter with the weight of the bike compressing the tyre so I suppose I have tried that then. Just never ever had this before and have done absolutely loads,

Ah no, You need to compress it to push some air out, then attach the bottle then take the pressure off so it sucks back in...oooer

COASTER IS CORRECT IME.

I ran ultra seal or slime in all my tyres until recently when trying to get more air into a SIP performer on the SIP tubeless rims and found that the tiny little hole to the valve stem was completely blocked with ultra seal and it needed this removing before it would accept any air at all -which was quite a job!

I would now only use U-Seal (etc) on these rims if it was a 'get me home' fix rather than preventative as it will seriously affect being able to get any air in (for pillion etc).
I carry a standard tubeless repair kit and some gas canisters also JIC and that will have to do!
