Still running a standard 6 volt points system only been out once in the dark and the lights are almost not worth having on.So is the 12 volt lighting conversion on this site as easy to do to do as it reads and does it give a similar light to a 12 volt complete ignition swap.I would like to leave it running on points are there any other options to improve the lights. Thanks Stephena.
This is the easy one to do without going DC electronic ignition, witch in my opinion is the best way for good lights and horn. cheers Stag http://www.ilambretta.co.uk/12v.html
Great simple conversion that really works for low cost. I have 2 scooters both converted in this manner. To improve further have also fitted a battery to run brake light and horn off 12 volt DC via a mini-bridge rectifier. Jono
Have a look at this thread viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1709 The biggest issue I had was the dimming of the head light when the brake light /horn was operated. I cured it using an LED lamp with a slight drop in the light output.
The simple answer is try it and see how it turns out All you need is a vespa type regulator and some wire links.
Hi mate Meds - reply is correct and thread to information on prior posting should prove very helpful. Personally I tried a LED rear/ brake light and although did help lighting the LED did not give bright illumination and was advised that they are not so good on AC current. Now run conversion with 12 volt Alarm Battery supplying DC (loud)Horn, bright brake light and LED indicators. Jono
