Scooter going backwards!

Postby Covboy » Tue Aug 30, 2016 5:21 pm

My mates Mugello runs well, pulls like a train and starts first kick every time.

On the way back from IoW we stopped after about 50 miles for fuel and breakfast. Upon restarting, instead of pulling away, the scoot went BACKWARDS!
He turned it off, kicked it over again :- it went forwards and rode perfectly.......next fuel stop, same thing happened..

AFAIK he is running fixed timing.

What could cause this?

I think many of us had backward scooters in the 70s 80s with old brass flywheels, good laugh it was to at the time. Haven't heard it happen intermittent before though, just shows your always learning.

Yep Timing to far advanced. The old 3 wheeler invalid cars, if I remember had a lever to advance the timing to go into reverse. Not that I used one lol, maybe soon.
