Jumped out of gear

On the way back iow my lambretta jumped out of 4th gear doing about 60mph never done it before any ideas

Are you sure that the speed didn't inadvertantly make you pull back on the twist grip, accidentally knocking it out of gear? Has it done it since?

The only time mine ever did that was when there turned out to be no oil in the gearbox.
