Hi Chaps,
I may be looking at a 1982 Spanish 200 it has no tool box, no badges and a battery tray (but no battery) immediately behind the toolbox door (if it had a door).Marks/holes on legshield and side panels would suggest it once had indicators.Is this a lynx or a jet 200? Points or electronic ign.
Any other info that you may have appreciated

That would make it a Lince, or Lynx I think.

it sounds like an exclusive a transition model between the 80 series and the lynx as the lynx didn't arrive till late 83

Imo, series 80 ....same as a lince/ lynx but with a "normal" headset top.

the 80 series had many variations from ones with std tool boxes and stalk indicators to as said like a lynx with a std headset

Thank you all for your input.It looks like I will have to miss this Lynx I was hoping to have someone to share the driving up to the North East 330 miles away but it has fallen through and don't have any relatives up north to check it out.

Note your last comment about it being too far. But it sounds exactly like mine, which is from 1982 and its classed as a Series 80, the same as Perrys from Total Scooters, see his paragraph below from his link to Spanish scooters

I bought mine in 2010 as a blue metallic not really knowing if it was a Jet or a Lince, but it was a 200 and a bargain at £1400.00, with matching frame and engine numbers. But if you look at the photos' it does show what you describe and Perry mentions. It came with 12v electronic ignition, but I don't think that it was the motoplat one, more like a SIL one. Note fat dampers and plastic legshield tool box, plus front mudguard is fiberglass and originally would have had some beading around the edge

After talking to Anthony at Buzzsolomoto, he confirmed that it was Series 80 and told me how mine may have left the factory. Having a look at hidden places, it showed a matt black frame and white panels. So I set off and put it back to more or less how it left the factory, but I kept the non standard floor runners. The side panels have silver 200 strips, which I got from Storckfoot (Paul) and Buzz supplied the correct stickers for the legshield. Since then I have put back the indicators.

If you look at Perrys link, you will see all sorts of variations that carried on over the years with the Spanish lambretta, including what seems like the short lived Series 80, but its a great machine.

So, if its in the right price range, take a punt.

Eventually the "SERIES 80" range was launched and in general this range featured (LYNX style) fibreglass mudguard/horncasting, an ignition switch, new style locking seat, Vespa style "body-line" indicators, 6V electric's (12V Motoplat electric's on later machines), upgraded (CEV) switchgear/lights, fat front dampers and sticker type badging. My 1982 model still features the old style metal headset (with 3 warning lights) and the toolbox mounted air filter. These updates coincided with the UK scooter revival of 1979-1982 and many Spanish machines were imported into the UK. Much is made of the poor quality of these Lambretta's (especially the electric's). However when compared with the SIL manufactured GP's of the period, the Spanish Lambretta's were very good products indeed.
