Trying to build up a set of series 2 forks and I cannot get the fork link to fit with the spacing washers attached , so can I leave them out or do I have to somehow expand the box section of the fork a tad to get it all in ?

Stating the obvious, if all of the parts are the originals, they will fit back in again, including the caps. They shouldn't be left out.
However, if new bushes have been fitted, new spacer tubes used & fresh caps, any of which may be ‘replica’ parts reproduced to the wrong dimensions, then everything will need checking & adjusted as necessary.

Sorry should have added , the forks are from a box of bits I acquired with the scoot , the fork links are new disc ones and the spacing washers are new , however they all fit easily into a pair of Italian GP forks I have but in the series 2 ones they don't ?? which was why I was asking if they are needed , i.e are they simple spacers or not ?

Get a M12 bolt or studding long enough to pass through the boot and a couple of nuts then pass the stud into the link hole on the fork boot and add the nuts . Pass the stud thru both holes then tighten the nuts against each inner side of the boot which will then spread out enough to be able to fit the links and caps.

Cheers Wack I did wonder about doing that , the more I think about it the curved edge of the spacing washer acts as a dust cover as well so guess they do need fitting !!
