Kytronic Mystery.....

Postby Wee Mark » Wed Oct 05, 2016 7:50 pm

Hello the Team

Managed to get a Version 2(no spark booster) Kytronic and when fitted inline I have no spark at plug, the little LED on the box shows/flashes so power there, so took it off again and the Ducati Original CDI then sparks the plug no problem....pretty sure I have wired it OK as colour coded and not much to get wrong

I tried changing the plug both Resistor & Non resistor, also plug cap both resistor & Non resisitor, still no spark with the Kytronic connented, pretty sure the HT lead should not be the cause

I left the setting on zero as I should get I straight through on this I.E Static timing

Any ideas/experience, thanks

Mark

Does it just connect into the wire from the pickup to the CDI (Red)? Have you tried it on different settings?

Thanks Coaster

It connects with Green, Red & White straight from Stator then in to CDI, I have NOT tried on any other positions than 0. would you say I should try then all? I thought 0 was straight - Static timing

any ideas at all as I am stuck cheers

going to garage now to try changing settings on the wee Dial

Checked, the little LED on Kytronic flashes at every setting on the dial but it sparks at none?

I'm going to ask what to me seems obvious to this and many other post's about what seem to be new tuning items being fitted what does the supplier or the info supplied with the item say?

I've got 3 of these units and all work OK, but mine must be the 2.0 versions, as there is no blue LED.

However, a few weeks back I ordered the new 2016 version direct from Antoine at KyTronik <antoine@kytronik.com> , which did have the blue LED light. Within a few days Antoine sent out an email, see abstract below. Checked my new 2016 in accordance with this and no spark. So I'm just wondering if yours is the 2016 one, but in any event, its faulty. Maybe worthwhile contacting Antoine direct on his email address as noted above, he is very helpfull. In my case got a refund until they sort out the problem

We received a warning from one of our electronic parts supplier pointing at a potential malfunction. Unfortunately, the way we test our modules can not detect this potential issue.

Hence, we are seeking for confirmation from our first customers that their device is working.
Test is to simply plug and play the Smart Booster (no change to stator), stay on curve 0 and to start engine.
If engine starts as expected, then it means the affected part is not part of the faulty batch and you have nothing to worry about !

If you have a chance to do that quickly, we would appreciate your feedback :)

Paul, thanks so much!!!, I got a faulty one then, Cheers I thought I was going mad or rubbish at wiring, wired my SIP Speedo OK, this was a lot more straight forward looking...

Cheers, explains a lot, maybe that why the supply has dried up too, no ones got any now!!!

The change to the Blue Colour LED from Red is not really very inspired either it looks like a short at the Kytronik if you do not know how they work!!!

Nice one, thanks
