I'm fitting a Bosch 12v water pump and wondered if I can run two circuits to it, one directly "on" from a two way switch, the other with a sensor to turn it on and off ? I have a five pin relay but not sure if the power can reverse into it when just on the pump "on" position ? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Eh up Wack.
I think we might need some more detail here? Presumably you have a water cooled cylinder?
Your question suggests that you require a manual bypass to disable the water pump. Why would you want to do this? There is a risk that you could forget that it is disabled resulting in the coolant boiling around the cylinder.
In my experience the coolant pump would run continuously as long as the engine is running. There are a number of ways of doing this but the fundamantal way is to have a rectifier and regulator wired directly from the generator. This DC supply can then power the pump and other things such as the lights and even charge a battery.
Control of coolant flow around the engine is then the responsibility of the wax thermostat located in the return hose line up to the radiator.

just clamp the output from the switch and the sensor together before the relay.... that way you will be able to switch on the pump even if the sensor doesnt think it warrants it....

Thanks for the replies guys, I don't want to go into too many details but the idea was to be able to have the pump on at certain times when the scoot is stationary then once on the move and with airflow thru the rad , switch to sensor. After searching the net and trying various wiring configurations I managed to just use a two pole 3 position switch which seems to work fine. The main reason was mainly to conserve the battery as there's no way to charge it with the ignition used.
