Hi,
After removing the front wheel I found the lock nuts holding the hub halves together where hardly tight at all and could be undone by hand easily. From memory I don't remember a specific torque setting for these but would expect them to be at least spanner tight. I am thinking now that the play in the front hub was down to these nuts not being secure enough rather than the wheel bearings as first thought. Any comments on this ? Thanks in advance.

If these nuts are slack the backplate will knock when braking so tighten them up tight. If the two hub halves trap and won't spin you may need to fit a shim inside the backplate.

Thanks for that I have ordered some gear selector shims from Cambridge as per stickys manual hint.
