Cleaning the outer case of a Dellorto carburettor

I have thoroughly cleaned the inside of my carb, including jets and slide, etc.
Could someone please suggest a good and effective cleaner for the outer casing? No acids or explosive mixtures please!

If you don't have access to an ultrasonic cleaner, you can try the 'Oxy' type laundry cleaners with boiling water.

They do get a lot of the cr@p off, in my experience & leave the zinc surface with a 'consistent' finish which stays reasonable if immediately coated with something like WD40.

I hope that helps.... :)

Just use a generic carb and brake cleaner. Halfords sell it. They are good for inside and outside.

Edit: it's actually "air intake and carburettor cleaner"

Wait until she goes out, then, stick it in the dishwasher and auto blast it at 70 degrees. (not the plastic bits). Now crack open a cold one. You deserve it.
