Knackered silent block?

Postby dickie » Wed Jan 04, 2017 11:13 am

Is this knackered?

I'm taking the motor out anyway, so it's easy to change while I'm at it. But is it dead or am I being a fanny?

It's worse than that. It's dead Jim.

Well it is now!

In case it's not obvious the engine bolt was a little reluctant so I "got medieval on his ass" to quote a classic film.

Gaz, I thought I'd bought bgm but noticed the SIL logo too so I guess they must be SIL?

If it matters I can look back through my records tonight and be sure.

I was just interested to consider the brand when buying new.

It wasn't the SIL part that got me wondering but the CRP initials ?

Ive seen the 3x hole with SRP (Scooter Restorations) and S logo...........and used them successfully. Ive never had an issue with SRP ones (still have them in one bike) and am using AF/Uni ones in the S2 and SX, to date they have proved fine.

Cheers Dickie

I've have considerable more mileage than you quote out of SRP and the Uni ones in TS1 motors.

I'd guess I've done between 2000 and 3000 miles on them.

I had a pair of them a couple of years ago but the kick start side failed in a few hundred miles, not worth the money imho. I replaced the failed one with an AF extended one and it has been brilliant.

I use the extended mount on a couple of my scooters. Do they improve the handling? Difficult to tell really. I hope you remembered that you'll need a longer rod as well?

Is it necessary to buy the special tool to remove them?
