Variatronic regulator

On the wiring diagram that comes with the kit it shows the terminals numbered but on the actual regulator there's only one number a no 4 but it's on the opposite side from the diagram. So looking at the regulator its 2nd in on the left hand side and on the diagram its second in from the right hand side. I've checked and checked to make sure I'm not looking at it the wrong way but any ideas or have I missed the obvious.
