mugello how do I tell which one?

Need help with a tuning kit, how do you tune your scooter, which kit should I choose, and all general tuning and modifcations questions are for in here.

mugello how do I tell which one?

Postby missing lynx » Sat Jan 14, 2017 10:31 pm

I've bought a scooter with a mugello 186 kit on it and am thinking about putting a bgm exhaust on it but reading up on them they offer a different u bend for later kits but how do I tell what one I have?

I thought it was just the swans neck bracket that differed on the mugello / BGM set ups ?

Didn't they start bridging ports, or something like that on the later version? It's good that they improve things. But it can be a double edged sword sometimes.

the swans neck doesn't have a bracket reading bgm's blurb it's the angle of the exhaust port face thats the problem but no matter what the exhaust differences are how do I know what bracket flange or whatever I need

This one:-

Other dealers are available, just shown this one as an example. The Mugello one has different holes.

Thats why they made the new Bracket to suit the Mugello it moves the angle of the Pipe due to the Ex Port

Thank for your replies but I still don't know which bracket I need as the older mugello's use the std bracket and the newer kit use the modified one so I'm non the wiser as to how I tell which one I've got!! This may be a pointless question as no one seems to have the exhausts in stock

I'm not sure if this helps. About 10 years ago, I had the first version that had the dowled head. It was a V3 Mugello. I ran it with an AF Clubman and a PM25 and don't recall having any issues with exhaust fitment.

As you have found out though, there is little information around about the different versions.

Unfortunately, most people would only be able to help you identify the version if you took the barrel off so that we could see features hidden whilst assembled, which is reflected by the responses you've already had. Even then, I wouldn't be able to advise on which exhaust fits which version.

If you do take the barrel off, or even the head, that would allow many people to say whether it was early, mid, late or current. I do appreciate that stripping a motor is not what everyone wants to do just to figure out what kit they're running!

Your best bet might be to ask Cambridge Lambretta (or Tino) whether there are any external identifying marks that might help you. Have you looked at the MB webpage to read his good section, with photos, on Mugellos?

The one I have just bought from Robbospeed came with both swan neck brackets.
