A bit of advice....again

Hi gents
I fired up my scoot for a blast along the back lanes yesterday, kicked over no problems and warmed up for about 10 mins. Took her out but as soon as I changed down the gears it started to bog down and then it stalled and wouldn't kick over I pushed it back to my garage and checked the spark plug, which was black and oily, so I changed it for a new. I had one of those inline fuel filters on so I removed that and renewed the fuel line, changed the fuel and swapped the carb over for a spare jetex I had.
So I today I fired her up, no problems let her tick over for a good 20 mins with no problems, took her out but as soon as I got into 3rd gear bogged down again and conked out. Pushed back to the garage but she wouldn't kick over. Spark plug black and oily. I checked the fuel flow rate when I changed the fuel line.

It's a electronic ignition if that makes a difference

Any advice will be most grateful

The content of your post suggests the engine is finding it hard to breath. Check your air filtration. (Have you left anything under the seat that could block the breather scoop?)

Need more info'.
What scoot is it ?
Is it kitted ?
What carb' and settings ?
Open mouth or filter ?
Advance/retard ignition ?
What is ignition set at ?
etc
etc

Sounds like your bogging down .....too much fuel to air ratio...

or it could be stator breaking down........cooling.....then working again.

Have you got a Sticky's manual ? worth getting one and having a read.

It breathes through a ram air remote filter and there isn't a air scoop it's Spanish and used to breathe through the tool box but I will check the filter for cracks or a blockage

Serveta lynx 125 but with a 186 kit on
22mm jetex carb don't know what the jets etc are but will have a look tomorrow and it has a ram air remote air filter and a standard clubman exaust
Don't know the advance/retard ignition or what it's set at
I have a spare stator so will look at putting that on if all else fails

Out of curiosity what would be the best set up on the carb,
just looking at stickys book and my carb is set up for a gp150
Slide:7895-2
Atomiser:5899-4
Main jet:118
Pilot:45
Starter jet:50
Would this be causing the problems

Are absolutely certain that your choke is closing properly? there should be a bit of slack at the carb end when it is in the off position.

make sure your petrol tank cap is breathing

Agree it sounds like an inability to breathe. What has changed ? Is this a new fault or has it always been like this ?

If its a 186 top end,your carb needs setting up as a 200
Slide:7895-1
Atomiser:5899-2
Main jet and pilot may need altering,but they will get you running and you can fine tune them from there.The choke jet is the same in a 150 carb or 200 carb.

Cheers gents I think I've got it beat......sticky choke.
There was no slack on the choke cable so slacken it off and checked the choke action when I had the ail filter off to check that and for good measure I checked the fuel cap breather it seamed ok but I gave it a goo dream out with a strand of copper wire.
I gave it a blast out last night with no apparent problems....fingers crossed and all
