well am glad its not only me having problems with the avanti pipe issue,as i thought i had a bought a stinker! i have now settled with a 48mm AF clubman and found its the best pipe for my riding style, touring with the odd blast,it suits the kit with 4.82 gearing, not the fastest setup but very rideable without chasing the powerband!

Regarding fits, On my own Avanti I've fitted a Ron Moss Clubman, Franspeed Tour and a Franspeed Race....all fitted with no issues. The Clubman and Tour pulled 4.6 but had to change to 4.8 for the Race.

Lads I ride with have a JL4, DJ and TSR Evo (tweeked by Darrell Taylor)......again all fitted with no issues.

Ron seems like a genuinely nice guy ,and very helpful on the phone etc, but it does not seem to make slot of business sense to spend so much time creating what for me and I think many others could be the perfect Lambretta engine kit, and then stop supplying a vital link to making it even better and most likely more appealing to potential avanti kit buyers. I understand that they are time consuming and therefore expensive to make, but I expect it would still be cheaper than buying various pipes and finding they don't work. It's even more of a problem with many of us getting too old to want an expansion chamber silencer hanging out the back of our period series one or two.

^... but getting the gearing and pipe choice right to suit the power delivery of the motor is the same issue regardless of what kit you use. The same could be said for the TS1, RB or any other. If you look at the back of Sticky's manual or on AF's website, they even go so far as to list out a range of pipes and the 4th gear ratio that will be required for it to pull correctly, without any chances being made to the kit itself. I'm not sure how this is any different for the TT3, other than the fact that some pipes will not fit because of the larger head and cylinder?

... and let's face it, if you ask dealers for setup suggestions for a TS1 225, they all give you different answers... pipes, carbs, jetting, reeds, timing, gearing, etc, etc. Compared to the TS1 the TT3 is still a very new kit and if people still cannot agree on setup requirement of a TS1 after 20 years, there is still a lot of learning to be done on the TT3.

Thankfully, Leotech's experience is helping us all to add to the knowledge and understanding of the TT3... and the 50 Gori.

Both the pipes fitted without removal of fins. I think I had to trim a minimal amount off round the exhaust port for the GP50 but the BGM fitted easily apart from being close to the fins on the shark fin bracket which I spaced out.

I am beginning to wonder after reading of everyone cutting fins etc. I bought my kit secondhand, maybe the first user cut fins but if they did they did a remarkable job of making it look standard.

I didn't take any off the diameter of the cylinder anywhere.

I have some photos of the clearance on the GP50 as a mate asked.

Leotech, any update on this, looking at fitting a bgm to my avanti, what does yours ride like ? Rest of your set up - carb / gearing with the bgm / etc ?, Be great to hear some on the road opinions instead of the armchair warriors thoughts on this. Ta! Graham
