Indian GP headset - hydraulic master cylinder options

Hi,

I have an Indian "thick" headset and I was planning to fit an LTH master cylinder (nice kit) but they don't make one for the Indian headset. Apparently, the LTH item can be accommodated on the thick headset with some fettling, but I don't want it to look like a compromise.

I need the trapezium shaped light switch too. I have not decided on which master cylinder to use instead of the LTH.

What solutions have you guys got out there?

I have just bought an LTH for S1/2 and that isn't a straight fit anyway which is disappointing considering its a CNC product. You have to loose meat off the tapered part of the headset apparently ( Marco emailed me to confirm) due the fact that not all the headsets are the same.

I have been looking at some of the traditional solutions to this problem (a re-cast switch housing & m/c master cylinder) and they seem quite cheap by comparison to the LTH/MWW solution.

I might be completely wrong as I often am but I'm certain when I bought one at rayspeed they asked if I wanted Italian or Indian fitting. The casa one looks pretty good and comes in Indian fitting but ain't cheap

"When you bought one", do you mean, an LTH master cylinder? I didn't know Ray sold them.

I spoke to Martin Robinson, and he told me that they didn't do an Indian fitting, perhaps it was only the trapezium switch type that didn't come in Indian fitting.

I will check out the Casa item, as I haven't seen that, though my pockets aren't that full.

I'll probably have the standard Scootrs or Sterling Indian Li style {trapezoid?] amongst my wares Martin.

I also have some adapters that bolt onto your existing none hydraulic light switch housing and then you can use any motorbike master cylinder, quite good if you want to use something a bit trick from a m.bike.

Seems like you are going to a great deal of trouble to accommodate an Indian headset have you thought of getting and Italian headset and you'll have non of the trouble

That's easier said than done. Tried to find one lately

I had a matching pair of Italian headset, but they were worth £200, so I sold them and bought a new Indian item for £40. Frankly, I have a whole heap modifications to make to the headset, it would have been a crime to do it to an Italian item.

We agree on that one! I didn't know what you were doing. I had the same issue with my current project cut good original stuff of bought new. I made the same choice as you. Good luck on the hunt, that's half the fun

I bought the lth master cylinder from Rayspeed with the Italian headset fitting. I just seemed to think at the time I was asked if I wanted Indian or Italian fit. I appear to be wrong on this one as I have looked on lth site and they do everything apart from an Indian fitment. I apologise but the casa performance one looks good and it definitely is available with Indian housing.

Nothing is straight forward or simple with these things hope you sort something out.
