If I may add my comments, I bought volumes 1 & 2 and during my first full resto of my 1964 Li150 Special.
Without these two publications, I would never have been able to strip and rebuild the whole scooter including the engine and gearbox. Between Stickys books and Scootering magazine, I was able to turn out a scooter with TS1 225 engine with new gearbox, Beedspeed uprated (Motorcycle type) clutch and hydraulic front disc brake, front dampers and 12v electrics.
That was back in 2010 and the scooter has never failed any of its MOT tests since.
Along the way I've fitted Jockeys rear brake and headlamp upgrade which I can heartily recommend.

Sticky, whatever extras you put into the next edition, I'll be one of the first to buy one, well done mate, I couldn't have done it without your books.

As opposed to a 3rd Edition (which would be 90% the same as 1 & 2), wouldn't a supplement be more practical ?

I'd suggest the "supplement" covers upgrades, different kits, exhausts, auto/retards, etc.

My concern with a 3rd Edition is that it may become too thick to be practical in a garage.

Colour-coded edges to each section. a clear and comprehensive contents page and a full index section - rather like a school textbook. That's my two pen'north. Merry Christmas!

Have you looked at the top corners of the pages?

I have never noticed that before....

If yours is like mine Jarv there will be a large black thumb print in the top corner of every page

Ring bound version which lays flat, like the old workshop manual.

Would it be possible to make a laminated type version? Obviously it would cost more but, being able to keep the pages clean would be an advantage for those of us who have the book in the garage while spannering.
My copy is now dog eared and very dirty with oil and for some reason, thread lock! I know it probably says a lot about the user, if it is covered in oil, but I also get egg down me top when dipping me soldiers

Ive not bought a Haynes manual for a few years now but last time I did I remember thinking how absolute 5hit£
the quality of the paper used was .
Stickys reminded me of how Haynes used to be "quality "
I just wipe me oily hands on an old rag before I turn the pages

Yes I've got a load of Haynes manuals for my Golfs and yes, the paper is sh1te as you rightly point out. It's like the stuff they make paper back novels from and definitely no good for a spanner monkey.

A good index and more annotation on the photograph highlight where and how things should be measured etc...
A supplement would be better than a completely new volume. I wouldn't focus on what aftermarket products are best, but more quality information on the various tips and tricks etc

Genius of an idea, with maybe puchaseable updates , to the earlier point avoiding the need to. It the whole book each time..

One-liners - might fit a few in, we'll see
Digital edition - thought about that but it is too easy for those to be ripped off and I'd never see another penny for the work
Paper quality - wanted it printed in the UK on decent paper rather than China on bog paper. Next one will maintain the quality.
Timetable - probably ready for 2018
