Oh the shame...

Postby P D: SC Chester » Wed Mar 01, 2017 8:27 pm

My youngest son has bought his first set of two wheels, but despite my input, he has got himself a Mmm motorbike!
It's not like he hasn't been exposed to the joy of 2 strokes, seeing mine in the garage more than on the road may have swayed him on the reliability front. But I can't help thinking I've done something wrong.
Oh the shame of it.....

Plenty of time for him to come to the conclusion that a scooter allows you to scare yourself shitless at 60mph rather than 160mph ;)

Mine did in the sense that I ‘steered’ him toward motorbikes of which he still owns. A Honda NC30.

However, his form of rebellion meant the first time he rode a Lambretta was in Group Four racing which he paid for & built himself. Within his first two seasons, he undoubtedly performed incredibly well, sufficient to catch the eye of a top, UK team.

Call me biased (if you want, but check the facts, first) but in the following season, any chance of capitalising on his natural ability eluded him due to the half hearted nature of his ‘semi-sponsored’ engine builder & sponsors that preferred to support older riders in their camp.

That’s one reason that you have to admire the Italians that have purposefully selected young, keen talent & have brought the game to us & wiped the floor with us.

Thanks Guys.

I like that Coaster, ive scared myself doing 50 on the M53, never again, a soft seize in no man's land where junctions merging and no hard shoulder!
Pushing a Lambretta across 2 lanes is something I hope never to repeat!

As for my son, well he takes after his mother!
